A genuine respect for the history of the decorative arts has consistently distinguished the collection of fine art frames from Larson-Juhl. The new Concerto Collection takes this respect to new level of appreciation. These finished corner frames both document the history of fine art frames and offer contemporary collectors a new way to showcase their finest pieces. To achieve this level of cratsmanship, master artisans at Senelar, Larson-Juhl's century-old atelier in northern France, place compo ornamentation on the mouldings by hand. The frames are then sent to an atelier in Toronto where artisans gild, burnish, finish and otherwise complete the decorative applications, often using elaborate historical techniques. Each of the designs in the Concerto Collection has been gilded with twenty-two-carat gold leaf. Not surprisingly, both the workmanship and level of detail in each frame is akin to that in a piece of fine jewelry.
While the provenance of these artisan frames varies, the authenticity of their styles, profiles, and finishes does not. Some were created directly from the design archives at Senelar, while others are the product of research into the history of fine art frames worldwide. As a collection, they represent a broad range of periods and regions from around the world.
The impeccable craftsmanship in the Concerto Collection has obvious applications for fine art, historic portraits, and original period art.
